Itinerary

Arrive Siem Reap by flight, Siem Reap – Treasures of the Kingdom of Cambodia, special welcome all warmly to everybody.

We head to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, the last capital of the great Khmer empire under the reign of Jayavarman VII, surrounded by an 8 meter high wall that creates a perfect location. Cross the embankment of the moat, flanked on both sides by a series of 54 deities and demons, each holding a sacred naga snake, and an impressive entrance gate adorned with three-headed elephants and four smiling faces of the Buddha is covered. Continue to Bayon Temple. At the exact center of Angkor Thom, this is an eccentric expression of the creative genius and inflated ego of Cambodia’s most celebrated king. Its 54 towers are each topped off with the four faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddha of Compassion), which bear more than a passing resemblance to the king himself.

Evening foodies tour to Road 60. This places similar to Pub-Street but this place different because Road 60 not the place for tourists at all as this place local people go sightseeing in late evening and night to get the fresh air outside from city and It’s a glorious evening street market lining both sides of the road. It runs from evening around 4:00pm (maybe earlier) until midnight. The road starts with small fruit stalls with piles of fruit laying on plastic on the ground. Maybe some of the more exotic fruits (such as jack fruit) and lots of selling fried snakes, crickets, beetles, spiders, and other insects (popular for local people buy and eat) on trays balanced on the top of boxes, bins, anything really.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Get ready for an early start for sunrise at Angkor Wat. Enjoy a well-deserved picnic breakfast at Angkor as you watch the sun rise over the temples before heading into the ancient city to explore Ta Prohm `Tomb Raider` fame. Ta Prohm has been abandoned to the elements, a reminder that while empires rise and fall, the riotous power of nature marches on, oblivious to the dramas of human history. Left as it was ‘discovered’ by French explorer Henri Mouhout in 1860, the tentacle-like tree roots here are slowly strangling the surviving stones, man first conquering nature to create, nature later conquering man to destroy.

Head further out through rural countryside to the small but beautiful temple of Banteay Srei. This temple is largely built of pink sandstone, a harder rock that can be more elaborately carved and better survives the rigors of time. This is an opportunity to capture some good photographs of the clear and detailed carvings. Stop at a local village to visit families who are producing palm sugar.

We journey out to the Mother of all temples, Angkor Wat. Believed to be the world's largest religious building, this temple is the perfect fusion of symbolism and symmetry and a source of pride and strength to all Khmers. When the sun goes down, return to your hotel to freshen up before enjoying dinner with a traditional Khmer dance show.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

This tour will take you on a journey into the countryside to experience the delights of village life in rural Cambodia. Well away from the tourist crowds, here you'll experience the real Cambodia. Enjoy an ox-cart ride and see traditional farmers tending their crops. Meet students and teachers at a village school. And take a short walking tour to see rice paddies, and meet local people. You may even see a local wedding. You’ll certainly have a day worth remembering! We will go to local pagoda, where you should change to clothes we can get wet in as here we will experience the ceremony “Srouch Teok”, which roughly translates into “Water blessing”. A monk will chant in ancient Pali as he splashes water over us, washing away our sins and bad luck so we can start fresh and by being a good person can increase our good luck. Then continue to have a boat trip to enjoy the beautiful lake view and mangrove forest on the lake, then spend rest of the morning at the largest village on the lake to discover the fascinating daily lives of the local people who leave on the water.
